Artist Practice

My work is rooted in resistance, empathy, and a deep engagement with overlooked lives. I explore the intersections of fashion, activism, and storytelling to amplify voices, both human and animal, that are silenced or ignored. While much of my practice responds to injustice and carries emotional weight, I also create simply to breathe. My studio is my escape where I enjoy the process of making.

Bahar Shah

A collection by Haya Haq

This collection was born from the streets of Baharshah Road, where lives, both human and animal, exist in shared social invisibility. Through silhouettes, textures, styling, and raw storytelling, this collection captures the beauty, and neglect of those pushed to the margins. Baharshah is not just fashion.

It Is protest stitched in fabric, a voice for the unseen.

Erasmus Student Network

Sustainability Through Fashion

I was selected from Pakistan for the Erasmus Student Network and spent a semester on exchange at Yeditepe University in Istanbul, Turkey. During this time, we explored sustainable fashion practices, particularly Julian Roberts’ Subtraction Cutting technique, which focuses on minimizing fabric waste while creating beautifully draped garments.

Sustainable fashion is crucial today as fast fashion severely damages the planet through pollution, waste, and overconsumption. Choosing eco-friendly materials and mindful production helps protect natural resources and reduce environmental harm.

CLO 3D

Mapping the Margins

Stitching Stories of Displacement

Conducted extensive research on the Khawaja Sira community in Lahore, mapping their residential areas to highlight how they have been systematically pushed to the margins of the city, both geographically and socially. Using traditional techniques like tile embroidery and gota work, I created a visual map that reflects their isolation and the lack of acceptance.
